Acela!

I had the honor to ride on the inaugural Acela Regional train on January 31, 2000.  This service will cut the trip time from Boston to New York to 4 hours, and its "big brother" the Acela Express will cut the time to about 3 hours.  The regional service uses electric locomotives straight through to Boston, as well as refurbished coaches.  The express service will consist of 20 brand new trainsets.  More information is available at the official Acela website, as well as at the Amtrak website.
